What Are You Watching?

Not our home at all

Listen, I love a good book and I can’t resist a good podcast (looking at you, Serial Season 3!). But I am also an avid consumer of television. And that’s good news for me, because these days there are more outlets to watch incredible original programming than ever before. Here’s a snapshot of what we’re watching now (and yes, it is all over the place):

  • Bob’s Burgers- The new season recently began and it’s better than ever

  • Survivor- Yeah, we are about 20 years too late to this party...but we’re loving it. Brent and I started with season 1- the infamous “naked contestant” season- and we haven’t looked back. This is the perfect time waster on lazy afternoons.

  • Maniac- A Netflix original, this is an intriguing and bizarre show featuring Jonah Hill and Emma Stone. We’re about halfway through it.

  • The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell- This show is delightfully weird. It’s kind of like if the Muppets hosted a baking show that was narrated by the Mystery Science Theater guys.

  • The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes- Addicting to watch and enviable to behold, the homes featured on this show are truly extraordinary. This is the perfect lunch break show that you can pause and come back to later.

What We Just Finished:

  • Great British Baking Show- I was terrified of how the new hosts would impact the feel of the show, but the new season did not disappoint. Charming as ever.

  • Stay Here- Inspiring easy-to-do fixes for rental properties are featured on this 30 minute show that will make you want to get out and travel.

What We’re Looking Forward To:

  • Chilling Adventures of Sabrina- Kiernan Shipka is a huge selling point on this one, as is the play on nostalgia. I used to love the original...and while this looks like it’s a far cry from the cute-sy Sabrina the Teenage Witch of my childhood, it looks campy and creepy in all the right ways.

  • Hallmark Countdown to Christmas- (Could these 2 picks be more different?) Watching the Hallmark movies is the TV equivalent of curling up with a hot chocolate, warm blanket, and puppies. It’s a totally predictable delight that I look forward to every year.
