Volunteering Fun!

“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” -Aesop

I’ve been lucky enough to get to be a volunteer most of my life and I really consider it a privilege to have the time to get to help. I’ve cooked and served food in Tallahassee at the homeless shelter, the Hope Community, and the Ronald McDonald House. I’ve folded baby clothes at the PHI Center. Cleaned beaches, built houses with Habitat for Humanity, and tutored children. Each time I come away with a renewed appreciation of the many good things in my life and the need to do even more! There will always be someone to help, there will always be a need, and there will always be plenty of us to do the right thing - whether it’s showing up or donating items or donating money - whatever you can do helps!

Here are some resources in our area that always need each one of us to keep going:

Kearneycenter.org | 850.792.9000 | An outreach center for the homeless.

Bigbendhc.org | An outreach for the homeless.

Rmhc.org | An outreach for families with sick children.

Phicenter.org | 850.222.7177 | An outreach for pregnant mothers.

Habitat.org | Building houses for those in need.

The Leon County website, www.volunteer.volunteerleon.org has a plethora of options and opportunities that suit every taste and every person from working with animals to people to helping the planet. If you don’t live near me you can find opportunities in your county via the internet.
