Sneaking Healthier Ingredients into Your Meals

If you have a picky eater or are simply trying to work more healthy choices into your weekly routines, we have a few tips and tricks that can help you win the battle for dinner!

  • Spaghetti Sauce: Mix in pureed vegetables with your tomatoes as your sauce simmers- they will blend right in! Try: squash, zucchini, or eggplant

  • Use veggie noodles in place of traditional pasta noodles

  • Tacos: Use mixed greens as your lettuce topping

  • Smoothies: Add 1/2 an avocado for improved creaminess and added nutrients (Did you know? Avocado can also be worked into recipes with chocolate- like ice cream- or when more mositure is needed- like cake!)

  • Add walnuts to banana bread for an extra protein punch

  • Meatballs: This is a great place to work in minced veggies, ground turkey, and inflammation fighting spices

  • Another great way to get picky eaters to try new foods: Involve them in the prepping process. Being involved in the preparing of the meal can often encourage picky eaters to try what they have prepared.
