Roasted Garlic

This is something I make all the time because it is so delicious and it also makes my home smell luscious! It is easy and versatile! (Side-note from Sarah: This truly is one of the simplest, most delicious things you will ever eat...and it sounds crazy impressive when you offer your guests homemade garlic butter!)

Ingredients:

1 whole head of garlic

2 tablespoons of olive oil

Salt and pepper

Cut the garlic through the center, creating two halves.

Put the two halves of garlic on a sheet of aluminum foil, pour the olive oil over the garlic, add salt and pepper.

Wrap it up in a pouch.

Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. When you start to smell its deliciousness check the garlic for doneness by opening the foil and poking the cloves with a knife. If the knife goes through easily and the garlic looks mushy, it is done.

Golden and delicious

Remove from the oven and place on the counter to cool. When cool, pick up the bulb halves and squeeze the garlic into a bowl. Pour any remaining olive oil over the garlic.

How to use roasted garlic:

1. Add it to a sick of butter to spread on bread. Use this butter to cook anything that you want to have the flavor of garlic - it is especially delicious when roasting a chicken.

2. Use as a compound butter on cooked meat - it is especially good with a steak.

My family loves when I make this and add it to butter. I rarely get to use it for anything but bread-and-butter because that is their favorite way to eat it
