What is it about things on toast that we find so alluring?
Many times I have thought to myself:
“Do I want tomatoes? No. But I could put them on some toast…”
Maybe it’s the portability, maybe it’s the ease of eating, maybe it’s just the way it looks, but slap it on some toast and I am all in.
Here are a few of my favorite things on top of toast:
Avocado Toast
A regular in my toast regiment!
Smash ¼ of an avocado on to toast. Top with fried egg, salt and pepper, and sriracha.
Tomato Toast
Smear ricotta on toast, top with halved cherry tomatoes, basil, and a drizzle of olive oil.
Peanut Butter Toast
Spread peanut butter over toast. Top with halved strawberries (or whole blueberries, raspberries, or sliced bananas). Sprinkle of cinnamon optional.
Cheese Toast
Melt dill havarti on toast, top with sesame seeds and slices of bacon.
Classic Breakfast Sandwich Toast
Melt cheddar slice on toast. Top with egg and breakfast meat.
