The Perfect Pantry
When we moved into our home 25 years ago I was enchanted with our small but efficient pantry. It was and still is a special space to keep everything organized and close by for easy access, storage, and meal prep.
Here are my best tips for the pantry:
Put dry goods (flours, cereals, rice, etc.) in containers with tight fitting lids to keep them fresh longer. Label each one because cake flour and all purpose flour look very similar.
The products you use the most should be easy to access.
Clean out your pantry at least annually. Did you know that flours and spices have expiration dates?
As canned goods approach their expiration dates, consider donating them to a food bank if you think you won’t use them before it is too late.
My spices have a special place in a rack on the pantry door so whatever is needed is quickly accessed. It also helps with grocery trips to be able to see what we need (check out the video above to see this).
A shelf for condiments helps out because we use these frequently. Keeping up with our beloved condiments is easier when we can see what we have and what we need.
Baking is a mainstay of life at our home. All the flours have their own container and are labeled.
