New To Me Grains


There's some delicious farro under there!

Through Blue Apron, I have recently been introduced to a wide variety of grains that I had never tried before. It has been fun trying new things and adding in some new tastes and textures to our weeknight dinners!


Here is a quick run down of the grains we have tried so far:


Quinoa- A classic that I was already familiar with! Great for filling out a recipe and filling you up; high in protein. Try this: Mix quinoa in with your traditional green salads for an added texture and additional protein.


Farro- Larger than quinoa and with more toothiness; delicious in place of orzo. Try this: Farro salad with feta and lemon- great hot or cold!


Barley- This one takes a little while to cook to produce a tender bite. Holds up well with sauces and mix-ins. Try this: Use barley as the base of your next burrito bowl!


Don’t be afraid to try something that is new-to-you! Just follow the cooking instructions on the package and experiment away!
