I’ve never worn much makeup, partly because of my jobs. As a former teacher and a former youth director I felt like I was running around and sweating most of the time so there seemed to be no point! All my makeup would end up sweating it’s way into my shirt anyway!
Today, I work in a sweat-free office and feel like it has become more important to finally grow up, be an adult, and put on a bit of professionalism.
As you can see from the photos, there’s a lot of junk crammed into my side of the bathroom medicine cabinet and I am learning how to use it all. Eye creams, face creams, and makeup removers in a variety of shapes, sizes, and prices. Until recently, I washed my face with whatever bar of soap was in the tub and used an inexpensive moisturizer. My beautiful daughter suggested I try other things because it’s enjoyable and part of a good self-care routine and she made it all sound so exciting that I couldn’t resist!
So, here I go into the world of cosmetics on a fabulous adventure! Products I have come to love so far:
Clinique products of every variety, especially their makeup removal products.
Plain old witch hazel, from the drug store, for use as an astringent.
Makeup brushes seem to be an essential ingredient to “doing it all correctly.” I have found that the brushes that come with products are not as good as brushes sold separately. Target (my favorite store in the universe) sells good sets.
Clinique “chubby sticks” are like lip liner and lipstick in one and I like the convenience of that! And a wide variety of lipstick colors is just fun!
I will keep you posted on the blog about how this new adventure is progressing and if I find anything fun to report.
