We had the great good fortune to attend the Jekyll Island Shrimp and Grits Festival this past September and loved every minute of it. Jekyll is a beautiful, historic place with sandy beaches and a one-of-a-kind hotel. We hope you enjoy this photo journey!
Upon check in, we immediately found the bakery (because you have to have priorities). Check out this waiting room...so glam!
We wandered the grounds a little to orient ourselves, then made our way down the boardwalk to The Wharf for lunch.
We enjoyed some jalapeno margaritas, rose, and seafood, then we hit the festival!
We also enjoyed Ben and Jerry's, arroz con pollo, and woodfired pizza (because...why not?)
There was also a beer tasting...so you know we did that! Gorgeous views of the water, too.
Later, we ventured out to the Jekyll Island Seafood company for some drinks and snacks.
Frose and margs were enjoyed by the pool, a sublime dinner was eaten in the Jekyll Island Club Resort Grand Dining Room, and exquisite architecture was seen during the evening walk.
We were sad to leave but will remember this trip for a long time to come as one of the most fun excursions of 2018! If you ever have the opportunity to attend this yearly festival, do not miss it. We can't wait to go back!
This really is a magical place that is a throw back in time! From our homes in southern Georgia and north Florida it was an easy and beautiful drive that is well worth the journey! Find out more by visiting, goldenisles.com. You won't be disappointed!
