We all owe Leslie Knope a great debt for the invention of Galentine’s Day. Galentine’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate the women friends in your life, or as Leslie put it “Ladies celebrating ladies!”
Galentine’s Day can be whatever you like: movie night, brunch, Netflix and chill, online gaming session. For me and my gals, it’s usually an opportunity for a sushi feast and manicures. Whatever it is, the goal is simply to appreciate the women who make your life better.
Female friendships can be hard- there are a zillion societal expectations of what friendships should look like and how women should treat each other. In my life, the best friendships (female or otherwise) have been supportive and kind, funny and comfortable. These types of friendships are rare and I am grateful for the reminder to value them and celebrate them as the gift that they are.
