Frozen Avocados?!?



If you are a regular reader of our fabulous blog you’ve heard me mention my husband’s love of all things Costco! He seems to be unable to stop himself from buying large quantities of anything, whether it is Costco or the BOGO items at Publix. His most recent purchase was 5 avocados. Now, I happen to love avocados but it is hard to eat 5 of them before they disintegrate!


Off to the internet, I went to find out if you can freeze them. Turns out, according to the worldwide web, that you can freeze them! Will wonders never cease?!


So, here’s what you need to do to keep all your avocados fresh, bright green, and ready for your next dish of guacamole or avocado toast:


  • Peel and core each avocado.

  • Add the juice of one whole lemon.

  • Smush up the avocado.

  • Add whatever you want. I added red onion, salt, and pepper.

  • Dump it all into a Ziploc bag, pressing out as much air as possible.

  • Freeze.

If you want to put the smashed avocado in a plastic bowl you can as long as you press a piece of plastic wrap on the top of the avocado before putting on the lid.
