French 75

This month we want to share with you, our lovely readers, two of our favorite holiday beverages! Tasty bevvies, as we like to say! We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

FRENCH 75

This is such a delicious and festive bevvie that feels like a celebration no matter what time of year you drink it! During the holiday season it is extra special because champagne always makes us feel particularly good, don't you agree?

I once heard a story about a family that always kept a bottle of champagne chilling in the refrigerator because it meant there would always be something to celebrate! Cheers to that!

Ingredients: gin, freshly squeezed lemon juice, champagne

Put two jiggers of gin in a shaker filled with ice, squeeze in 1/2 a lemon. Shake, shake, shake.

Pour into a lovely coupe or wine glass and top with champagne. Cheers!

Here's an interesting story about how this lovely bev came into being:

The drink dates to World War I, and an early form was created in 1915 at the New York Bar in Paris—later Harry's New York Bar—by barman Harry MacElhone. The combination was said to have such a kick that it felt like being shelled with the powerful French 75mm field gun. (Wikipedia)
