Did you know that every blood donation can potentially save up to three lives? That’s right, three lives can be saved every minute of every day by making a simple donation of a pint of blood! How amazing is that?!
If you’ve never donated blood, have no fear, it is easy and almost painless. I won’t lie and tell you it is completely painless because it is not but it is extremely bearable and when it is over there is nothing but a small bruise.
You can make a whole blood donation every 56 days at either the blood center or at one of the buses, which are often parked all over town. You simply go in, sign-in, complete some questions on a handheld computer, and the wonderful nurses will take it from there.
They give away prizes, like my HERO baseball cap, movie tickets, grocery store gift cards, and (my favorite) Starbucks gift cards!
If you are apprehensive, stop by, talk with them, and ask questions. It’s a good thing!!
