Cooking the Perfect Steak

My recent steak- straight from my kitchen!

Cooking the perfect steak has always been a losing game for me- I’ve just never been that good at it. But where there’s a will, there’s a way, dear readers. I have bravely eaten steaks for weeks, slowly perfecting my recipe bit by bit.

Here’s what I found:

  • First, you need to purchase a good cut of meat. If you’re having a steak, spring for something delicious from the get go. Cheaper cuts are perfect for stir frys, soups, and all kinds of other things...just not for at-home steak house dining

  • Bring your steak to room temperature before you cook them.

  • Sear your steak in a screaming hot pan; sear both sides.

  • Season both sides.

  • Once seared, pop the steak into a 350 degree oven to finish the cooking process. Place a pat of butter on top of the steak before placing it in the oven- this will keep your steak moist and add a deliciousness that only butter can add.

  • Cook in the oven for approx 10 minutes (you may need to adjust this time depending on how done you like your steak)

Voila! It’s easy, it’s delicious, and best of all: it comes from your own kitchen!
