Cheesesticks

Okay, so I will admit it: I have the palate of a small child! I love chicken fingers, hot dogs, and most especially, cheese sticks!! All of that warm gooey goodness makes me so happy that I could eat a million of them!

I decided to try and make them at home after ordering groceries online and getting a gigantic pack of mozzarella sticks! I thought I was ordering a normal size package but when I opened my grocery bag I found 36 sticks!! OH YUM! I had to do something with them before they grew mold and this is what I came up with …

Coatings

In one bowl: 1 cup of all-purpose flour mixed with ½ teaspoon of garlic salt

In another bowl: 2 eggs lightly beaten with 2 tablespoons of water

In another bowl: 1cup of Italian bread crumbs mixed with ½ cup of panko crumbs

10-12 mozzarella sticks (aka: string cheese)

  1. Dip each cheese stick first in flour, then in eggs, then in bread crumbs. Make sure to coat them well. Place them on a sheet tray.

  2. Once all of the cheese sticks are coated place the tray in the freezer for at least an hour.

  3. About 20 minutes before you want to fry the cheese sticks, heat 1 quart of vegetable oil in a deep pot to 350 degrees.

  4. Fry the cheese sticks in batches. When they are golden brown remove them to a wire rack and salt them while they are still hot.

  5. Heat some jarred marinara sauce and enjoy!
