Butter Pound Cake

Butter Pound Cake: A Classic for a Reason

This simple cake is still my favorite because it is versatile and delicious. It’s so easy to add any kind of fruit topping, whipped cream, or chocolate to change this up for family or friends!

3 cups of sugar

1 ½ cups of room temperature butter (3 sticks)

6 ounces of room temperature cream cheese

4 room temperature eggs + 2 egg yolks

¼ cup of whole milk or ½ & ½

2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

3 cups of flour

1 teaspoon of salt

  1. Beat the sugar, butter, and cream cheese with an electric mixer until it is light and fluffy - about 6-7 minutes.

  2. Add the eggs and yolks one at a time and mix each one just until incorporated.

  3. Add the milk and the vanilla and mix each one just until incorporated.

  4. Sift together the flour and salt. Add the flour mixture in three batches and mix each one just until incorporated.

  5. Spread the mixture in a greased and floured bundt pan.

  6. Bake in a preheated 300-degree oven for about 75-90 minutes. Use a toothpick to test for doneness.
