Book Review: Truly, Madly, Guilty

This is the third book by Liane Moriarty that I’ve read and each one was better than the one before. What Alice Forgot and The Husband’s Secret were both a joy to read but this one was even more intense and exciting! I don’t know how she is able to consistently put out such intriguing and well written books but she does it every single time.

One of the many reasons I enjoy her work is that she has the ability to write universal stories. Her books could be based anywhere in the world and they could be written in any language because they tell a story about people, all people, and how much we are the same. Each of the books I've read focus on the terrifying fragility of life and how everything you’ve ever known can change in an instant.

Truly Madly Guilty is set in Australia during a two month period and involves three happy families who get together for a barbecue. Simple enough except that she takes the reader on a ride full of suspense, curiosity, and ups and downs among all of the characters while at the same time telling a story about life that anyone can understand. The universality of her story and how quickly life can change us makes this a wonderful summer read by the pool!
