Book Review: The Choice

I finished this book several weeks ago and it has taken me a while to digest it all. It is one of the most beautiful and terrifying books I have ever read. Dr. Eger is a 91 year old psychotherapist with a thriving practice in California who is an Auschwitz survivor. She has been through more in her 91 years than any 10 people I know.

Her story is one of resilience and strength. She is able to find joy in the simplest of things, things that most of us pass by everyday.

At times this book is difficult to read because the sheer cruelty is unfathomable but I kept on reading because of the importance of this story. As time goes on and more and more World War II soldiers and survivors pass away we must keep these true-life stories alive so we do not repeat the same mistakes.

As hard as it was to read, it was worth the journey because it is ultimately a story of hope, perseverance, and most importantly LOVE!
