Book Review: Next Level Basic

One of my secret shames is my love for trashy reality television. I cannot get enough. Competition shows? Watched them. Celebrity interventions? Yupp. Real Housewives of (insert literally any city here)? You know it.

...but the Queen of all reality television for me is Vanderpump Rules on Bravo. The show follows a group of servers at a restaurant in L.A. That’s it. There’s...no redeeming value whatsoever, and I absolutely love it.

The star of that show, Stassi Schroeder, recently released a book called Next Level Basic. NLB was a NYTimes Bestseller and an utter pleasure to read.

Stassi is funny, insightful, and empowering. I actually laughed out loud reading this book, which is a rarity. Her no-nonsense view of life is absurd and wonderful.

What tickled me the most was her no-holds-barred approach to life and embracing your basic-ness. She is all about owning what you like, no matter what other people think. The message of the book ends up being one of empowerment and self-confidence, a message I can totally get behind.

So maybe reality TV isn’t my secret shame, just my next level basic coming out :)

Grab a copy for the beach this summer- you won’t regret it!
