Blueberries!

There’s a blueberry farm about 8 miles from my house that is beautiful, organic, and a wonderful way to spend several hours. It’s called Jubilee Orchards (jubileeorchards.com) and is over 200 acres of luscious berries and the great outdoors where you are invited to pick as many blueberries as you want for $7/pound. I’ve been twice this season and now have about 10 quarts of fresh frozen blueberries, plus all of the things I’ve made - blueberry muffins, blueberry coffee cake, blueberry cobbler - that you’ll see recipes for on the blog very soon!

We are lucky to live in such a lush area that produces fresh fruits and vegetables, organic meats, and fragrant herbs all year long and I love to take advantage of that during each season through our local farms and farmers and all of our weekly markets. It’s a great way to support small local farms, eat healthy food in season (which is always the most delicious), and support your community.

What does your community offer that you can take advantage of all year long?
