Yellow cake with chocolate frosting is one of my all-time favorite desserts. Now stay with me here because I am about to say something blasphemous: I prefer the boxed version over homemade.
That’s right...I think that boxed mix is the best. It’s perfectly proportioned and always comes out light, fluffy, and sweet. I dig a boxed cake mix.
Some occasions call for something outside the box: weddings, showers, holidays, all those wonderful moments that call for standing around the kitchen and baking together. I value those times- they are sacred and special.
...but on a Wednesday night when I’m craving a slice of cake? Bring on the Duncan Hines!
Don’t be afraid to treat yourself without the work from time to time. The act of sharing a piece of cake with the ones you love is more important than how the cake was made!
